Hotel a 3 stelle con vista. 3-star hotel with a view.

Cambio di programmi ieri: alla fine Arnau ha traslocato all'ultima zona dell'unità di cure intensive (l'ultimo passo prima del rientro a casa), passando dal seminterrato al secondo piano.
Motivo: si aspettano molti bimbi prematuri nei prossimi giorni e bisogna fare spazio nelle zone dei critici e semicritici. E, dopo tutto, Arnau non ha più bisogno di molto: qualche ecografia, e la cura giornaliera della ferita che gli fa direttamente la bravissima neurochirurga. Tra l'altro, lei avrebbe voluto portarlo in sala operatoria per rifargli tutti i punti e lasciare la cicatrice in condizioni migliori, ma gli anestesisti hanno detto che nemmeno per scherzo avrebbero ri-intubato il piccolo Arnau, dopo lo spavento della prima operazione. Vorrà dire che Arnau avrà la sua super cicatrice da guerriero sul cranio.

La zona dove siamo adesso si può paragonare a un hotel a 3 stelle, dopo essere stati un primo tempo nel 5 stelle della zona "critici" (una infermiera ogni 2 bimbi e tutti i comfort di decine di macchinari e schermi), e in un secondo tempo nel 4 stelle della zona "semicritici" (una infermiera ogni 4 bimbi e qualche comfort in meno).
Il nuovo 3 stelle ha meno personale, è un po' più spartano, meno comfort.. Però è più tranquillo, meno allarmi, meno urgenze, infermiere poche ma simpatiche, e ha una vista sul parco. Per di più gli amici che vengono a trovarci possono vedere Arnau attraverso un vetro.

Si sente già quasi aria di casa...

Change of plans yesterday: Arnau got moved to the last section of the intensive care unit (the last step before checking out).
The main reason is that they expect lots of premature babies in the next days and needed to make room in the "critical" and "semi-critical" areas. And, after all, Arnau does not need much these days: a few ultrasound scans or MRI, and the daily check and cleaning of his wound, which the excellent neurosurgeon performs herself, every afternoon. She even wanted to take him back in the surgery room to fix the wound once and for all, and leave a cleaner scar, but the anesthesiologists asked if she was kidding, and said that after the scary experience during the first surgery, they'll definetely not want to go back to have Arnau with assisted breathing and everything...
That means Arnau will have his warrior scar on the skull to show off.

The new area can be seen as a cozy 3-star hotel, after the 5-star experience in the "critical" area (a nurse for every two babies, all the comforts, machines, screens...) and the 4-star experience of the "semi-critical" area (a nurse for 4 babies, a bit less comfort and gadgets).
The new 3-star has less staff and is more basic, but is more relaxed, less alarms going off, less emergencies, fewer yet good nurses, and a nice view of the park (yes! We moved from the underground levels to the second floor, and there are windows!)
What's more, friends visiting can now see Arnau through a glass wall...

It almost feels like we're ready to go home!
