La sorpresa di oggi é stata una risonanza magnetica di prima mattina, invece di una piú semplice ecografia. La risonanza non era prevista fino alla settimana prossima, ma hanno deciso di anticiparla per avere piú dati per la prossima riunione medica interdisciplinare.
Continuano ad esserci piccoli miglioramenti, il sangue si sta riassorbendo, anche se molto lentamente.
Si osservano alcune zone cerebrali danneggiate, ma non al punto da destare troppe preoccupazioni, considerando che é un neonato. I giusti stimoli saranno importantissimi per recuperare al meglio.
Per i piú tecnici che si staranno chiedendo se davvero si possono vedere tanti dettagli con una risonanza magnetica, la risposta é che é una risonanza magnetica speciale, che utilizza il tensore di diffusione (non potete perdervi le formule matematiche!)

Today's surprise has been an MRI in the early morning, instead of a more common ultrasound scan.
The MRI was planned only for next week, but they've decided to anticipate it to today, in order to have more information for the next cross-functional medical meeting.
It showed small improvements, blood is re-absorbing, even if very slowly.
Some brain areas do appear somewhat damaged, but so far not to an extent that should worry us, considering that he's just a 3-week old baby. The right stimuli will be very important to ensure the best recovery.
For the most technical folks, who might be wondering if a regular MRI can really provide so much detail, the answer is that it's a special kind of RMI, called "diffusion MRI" (don't miss the mathematical formula!)
